Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Bookkeepers are expected to train, retrain, learn and refresh their knowledge on a continual basis. My CPD plan not only covers QuickBooks Online and Xero, but traditional methods of bookkeeping. It includes GDPR, cyber security, VAT and industry trends.
My CPD mix involves networking with accountants and other bookkeepers, attending ICB events and industry exhibitions; along with attending many short and formal courses, taking examinations, watching webinars and reading leading journals. It also makes use of the many books I hold on accounts, business management and IT.
Experience
I have worked in publishing, natural cosmetics and copywriting.
As a food writer I attended catering college. I learned to play the cello as an adult, resulting in being a member of a wide cello community in Cornwall and I am a volunteer at Truro Cathedral as a choral singer.
